Because of an oversight, for example, you might end up buying a US 5 for women when your usual size is a US 5 for men, or the other way around. By verifying the equivalence with the European system and the centimeters, you won't run this risk.
Products with specific women's sizing usually include the wording "W" or "WMNS" in their name.
